Managing Downy Mildew

There are currently six races of Downy Mildew, which make up 95 percent of the present pathogens. Unfortunately, Downy Mildew has become resistant to Apron® seed treatment.

Due to the fact that even the lowest levels of infection can reduce the value of your sunflower crop, the only way to completely prevent Downy Mildew from infecting your hybrids is to choose sunflower hybrids that are resistant to all prevalent U.S. races. However, CruiserMaxx™ Sunflower seed treatment does provide partial control against Downy Mildew pathogens.
