Soybeans
Some soybean varieties work better in tougher situations where strong defensive traits such as cyst nematode resistance, disease resistance and iron deficiency chlorosis (IDC) tolerance are required. Other varieties are more offensive and excel in better soils and agronomic conditions. The CROPLAN GENETICS® seed soybean lineup allows producers to zero in on a precise solution that matches the best genetics and management to any existing situation in their fields.

OFFENSIVE AND OFFENSIVE/defensive VARIETIES

  • May carry some disease and/or cyst nematode resistance
  • Usually rated average to above average for IDC tolerance
  • Best choices for sandy-loam and silt-loam soils without significant excess moisture, high pH, carbonate and/or salt problems

DEFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE/offensive VARIETIES

  • Often carry disease resistance such as the Rps1k gene for phytophthora root rot (PRR) resistance, brown stem rot (BSR) resistance, sudden death syndrome (SDS) tolerance, sclerotinia white mold (SWM) tolerance or other disease tolerances
  • Often have cyst nematode resistance and are usually rated good to excellent for IDC tolerance
  • Better choices for poorly drained soils, clays and “hot” soils with pH, carbonate and/or salt problems
